Pros

Production staff and lower management is sharp and hardworking. In a fast-paced production environment with ever-shifting priorities, production teams step up and embrace new challenges, which can make for a rewarding professional experience. Employees are friendly and welcoming.

Cons

Strained work environment created and fostered by upper management. CEO is regularly dismissive of and abusive to management and production staff. "Us vs. Them" attitude between departments is encouraged, bringing down morale. Fear of CEO's response to less-than-positive feedback makes upper management slow to acknowledge issues and take action, leaving lower management without necessary support. Opportunities for advancement are available, however working more closely with upper management does not feel like an "opportunity".

Lots of Improvement Needed

Pros

Benefits, convenient office location, helpful and kind co-workers (excluding Management)

Cons

The CEO hires managers who know little/nothing about the department(s) they are asked to manage. Some do not even have a basic understanding of how the company runs. It's embarrassing. Very little room to grow - unless you want to go into Research. Also demoralizing how hard-working and honest co-workers are let go - just to supposedly save money, at the expense of quality going downhill. Never has Management asked for the employees' feedback, yet want to spend $$$ on hiring "experts" from the outside. Also, like the other recent reviewer pointed out, people who are left to pick up the pieces/tasks when someone quits the company ought to be compensated for these extra responsibilities.

Honestly, it was terrible.

Pros

Willingness to hire people straight out of college.

Cons

The CEO is prone to loud temper tantrums (throwing things, breaking things in his office) and puts the entire company on edge. Employee internet use is monitored - if the boss walks by your desk and you have anything up that doesn't look like work, you will get publicly berated for it. Extremely low pay (I was hired making $26,000 as a project manager). One of the worst companies I've worked for.

First off, we want to thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. Your comments have made it clear that your experience with Competiscan did not match our intention of being one of the best companies to work for. We want to address your feedback so we can deliver a great experience for all of our current and future employees, but we also want to take this opportunity to clarify that the comments that were made in this post (passed off as factual) are disparaging in nature and entirely not true. For other existing and prospective employees reading this post, please take the time to read some of the more constructive comments about our organization on Glassdoor. If you are interested in joining our team, we would also encourage you to talk to some of our existing employees and hear about their experiences. We would be happy to make those arrangements for you Competiscan is not a perfect organization, but we strive to make sure our employees are taken care of, valued, and rewarded for behaviors which ultimately support our culture in a positive way. I appreciate our employees' dedication, intelligence, and loyalty to our organization. To be clear, the following items you will read in this post are false and disparaging in nature. We would like to encourage the former employee who posted these comments to edit or remove these untrue statements, or just remove the post in its entirety. For starters, Competiscan’s CEO has never thrown or broken anything in the office environment - this is a categorically false and disparaging comment. It is unfortunate that a false and disparaging comment like this is allowed in a public forum and this should be removed from this forum immediately. Further, Competiscan's company culture does not allow berating of our employees. We also want to clarify that the internet usage is monitored to avoid unauthorized use (as it is with most organizations), as stated in our employee handbook. However, it is not Competiscan’s culture for Managers/Supervisor to monitor employee computer screens on a formalized basis. Competiscan has not hired for a Project Manager title in the history of our company, hence the salary and the claim stated below is untrue and should be removed. For the individual who took the time to create this post, if you would like to share more about your experience please contact me directly at richard@competiscan.com (or feel free to call our office directly) so that we can talk. It would be a great opportunity for me as a leader to learn about the motivation behind your comments. Again, thank you for the feedback, and best of luck in your future endeavors.
