    I have been working at Corero full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Open sharing environment, focused on success with a quality product/solution. Great teams in all levels of the organization with focus on inter-departmental teamwork to maximize customer delight and Corero's success in the market. Treats employee's fairly and with respect. Great benefits packages and easy access to all benefits through ADP systems.

    Cons

    At times resources can be stretched thin causing excessive work schedules which can last for months. Everyone's in it to win it, but a proper work life balance is sometimes difficult to maintain, which is often times driven by a lack of resources.

    Advice to Management

    Keep pressing forward with efforts to continuously monitor and make changes where needed to improve Company culture.

    Pros

    They are very good about work/life balance. Benefits are not bad for small company.

    Cons

    Road map is horrible. Constantly changing. Management doesn't know how to do proper road map research or marketing.
    No real direction from management

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your engineers and old customers instead of a few customers. You could have made money if you just work on existing platforms

    I worked at Corero full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Corero has a team atmosphere with hard working individuals. Some team members have been here since the company started under the name of Top Layer. They offer a solid product technology with existing customer base. Product was re-engineered in the past year.

    Cons

    Like most companies your satisfaction depends on what department you're in. Some of management team has changed in past 2 years (Sales and Channel) so it's a new team and new start.

    I have been working at Corero full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    * usually normal hours
    * interesting technology
    * above-average codebase quality
    * little to no bureaucracy
    * many competent engineers
    * great culture (no "brogrammers" nor suits; diverse staff)

    Cons

    * confused strategic direction
    * poor/nonexistent project management
    * overambitious ship dates
    * little to no guidance from product management
    * daily status meetings ("scrum" in name only)
    * pay well below industry average

    Advice to Management

    Acquire (by hiring or promotion) more product managers and software architects; as-is, engineers pick up the slack, and it shows. Re-evaluate engineers' capabilities; many are over-, under-, or incorrectly utilized given their individual strengths and weaknesses. Ease back on the ship dates. Cut dead weight so you can afford to keep those who bring value.

  6. "Overall Top Layer is the 2nd worst company I have worked for in terms of management"

    Pros

    They have an ok security product.
    There pricing makes the product easier to sell.
    Working remotely is the only position I would recommend taking.

    Cons

    Management think they know everything and do not take any feedback from sales force.
    They pay as little as they have too.
    They do not acknowledge employees accomplishments.
    They take 3 months to reimburse your traveling expenses.
    They make you pay for everything but flight ticket on your own credit card.
    They make you coordinate with other workers when getting transportation, and you have a small budget for meals and hotel.

    Advice to Management

    They step on dollars all the day, just to get to a dime.
    Put some money into marketing and get the word out on the product.
    Don't belittle the employees through fear and intimidation.

    Pros

    Work from home.
    Decent compensation.
    Interesting technology.
    Good customer base.

    Cons

    Bad organization
    Sales management was difficult to please.
    Hard to get answers to important tech questions.

    Advice to Management

    I would advise that they provide better training on their products and make themselves more accessible and available. It was very difficult to get develop my pipeline because management was constantly firing RSM's. As soon as I started to hit a stride they would fire the Sales Rep and i would have to start all over. The process they used to organize meetings and their list of contacts was really poor and made it difficult to maintain relationships.

    I have been working at Corero full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Working at Corero is akin to working at a start-up. Vibrant energy and everyone has bought into the mission. 3 years ago, the company introduced a new product that as the title indicates, never disappoints. It is refreshing working for an organization with incredibly smart and talented people, dedicated to the customer. Excellent life / work balance and an executive team that is responsive to the changing dynamics of the cyber security industry..

    Cons

    In some cases, Corero asks employees to be "utility players", and to venture away from your literal job description to make sure the project is successful. One must be creative and driven to flourish here.

    Advice to Management

    Keep listening to the customers and continue to invest in the best DDoS technology on the market.

    Pros

    not that much. They aren't the worst ... could have been better. Kinda like warm beer.

    Cons

    stuggling ... won't be around long. It's clear that the market isn't accepting their products. They've been losing money for years.
