    I worked at Corero full-time

    Pros

    - Engineering has stayed ahead of the curve with innovative solutions to meet and exceed market demands

    - Start-up atmosphere allows for transparency and visibility with go-to-market strategy

    - Empowered to test new ideas

    -Strong leadership team

    Cons

    - Being a smaller organization, it is key to prioritize initiatives and cross functional collaboration. There is room for improvement here.

    Advice to Management

Keep building technology that wows the market!

I worked at Corero full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - I was treated exceedingly well by my team manager
    - CEO (Ashley Stephenson) is as technical if not more technical than most engineers
    - Fair compensation, decent benefits
    - Education opportunities if you are willing to push for them
    - Flexibility in terms of working remote
    - Some genuinely kind, hard working, and intelligent staff
    - The original SmartWall and bypass (the 1/4u units) were actually pretty clever bits of hardware
    - Plenty of space to make a mark as a contributor
    - Despite the cons, I don’t regret working here and did not leave disgruntled

    Cons

    - Extremely political, especially when it comes to the “right” to work on something
    - Very fly by the seat of your pants
    - You will likely work well beyond a 40hr work week
    - Resources can be poorly managed (skills, people, and money)
    - Company and product direction is always a moving target. Said target is generally missed for any number of reasons. Missed targets are addressed by redefining objectives instead of introspection and correction.
    - Working on old tech marketed as new tech
    - Plenty of good work has gone to waste due to lack of research and understanding, planning, executive responsibility/support… or straight up political nonsense
    - The US location is now sparse, very UK heavy by head count and influence

    Advice to Management

    - Truly address the internal decay in communication and politics. It's masked but not getting better.
    - Get a check on sales. Selling what we don’t have makes us all look bad, even if we are able to pull through most times.
    - Do more planning and research on readiness prior to big opportunities.
    - Push PM to use and understand the product they’re driving, do more research on current tech, and listen more closely (not present PowerPoint) to customers. Don’t present features which are future-maybe or future-planned as now-concrete.
    - Keep in mind that neither software engineers nor their managers are (in general) product management, usability/UX experts, UI designers, network engineers, systems administrators, or security experts.

I have been working at Corero full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You can advance as far and as fast as your ability allows. DDoS provides lots of interesting technical and marketing problems to solve every day.

    Cons

Must be self starter, will not succeed if you sit around waiting to be told what to do.

    Advice to Management

Share as much information as possible with the broader team on customer requirements and successes

I have been working at Corero full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Open sharing environment, focused on success with a quality product/solution. Great teams in all levels of the organization with focus on inter-departmental teamwork to maximize customer delight and Corero's success in the market. Treats employee's fairly and with respect. Great benefits packages and easy access to all benefits through ADP systems.

    Cons

At times resources can be stretched thin causing excessive work schedules which can last for months. Everyone's in it to win it, but a proper work life balance is sometimes difficult to maintain, which is often times driven by a lack of resources.

    Advice to Management

Keep pressing forward with efforts to continuously monitor and make changes where needed to improve Company culture.

I have been working at Corero full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at Corero is akin to working at a start-up. Vibrant energy and everyone has bought into the mission. 3 years ago, the company introduced a new product that as the title indicates, never disappoints. It is refreshing working for an organization with incredibly smart and talented people, dedicated to the customer. Excellent life / work balance and an executive team that is responsive to the changing dynamics of the cyber security industry..

    Cons

In some cases, Corero asks employees to be "utility players", and to venture away from your literal job description to make sure the project is successful. One must be creative and driven to flourish here.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to the customers and continue to invest in the best DDoS technology on the market.

    Interesting field of technology
Flexible hours of work and some remote work possibilities

    Cons

    PM non-existent
    Free thinking has been quashed
Type or location of position determines if you stay employed, not productivity
Heavy brain drain in the past year

    Advice to Management

Don't apply large company methods on a small company
Consider a change of direction for engineering leadership
    Get more sales people

    Pros

They are very good about work/life balance. Benefits are not bad for small company.

    Cons

Road map is horrible. Constantly changing. Management doesn't know how to do proper road map research or marketing.
    No real direction from management

    Advice to Management

Listen to your engineers and old customers instead of a few customers. You could have made money if you just work on existing platforms

    Pros

not that much. They aren't the worst ... could have been better. Kinda like warm beer.

    Cons

stuggling ... won't be around long. It's clear that the market isn't accepting their products. They've been losing money for years.

    Advice to Management

business reality will do the talking.

I worked at Corero full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Corero has a team atmosphere with hard working individuals. Some team members have been here since the company started under the name of Top Layer. They offer a solid product technology with existing customer base. Product was re-engineered in the past year.

    Cons

Like most companies your satisfaction depends on what department you're in. Some of management team has changed in past 2 years (Sales and Channel) so it's a new team and new start.
