I wish I could give five stars

    Pros

There's no doubt everyone working for CoxHealth cares about their community and the success of the hospital. Acts of kindness and generosity among staff toward each other and patients are a daily, regular occurrence here. You will be treated with tremendous kindness and respect. No doubt. I never felt obligated to go above and beyond for the organization, but I happily do so when I have the opportunity to help. I love what I do and the people I work with, but I just can't afford to work here.

    Cons

For a salaried employee, benefits are dismal. The ETO is shameful, bordering on unethical. If you can make it to five years you'll finally, maybe, be able to take time off for leisure rather than desperately hoarding your hours for when you or your kids get sick, or say, Christmas and other holidays. And their "paid maternity leave" is two weeks that would normally be covered by your impossible-to-access sick bank anyway. It's practically nothing. Also, the pay is rough and HC premiums are sky high.

    Pros

Managers are approachable and friendly. Hourly wage is good for area with opportunity for overtime and sometimes bonus pay. Competitive health care insurance, dental, vision etc. Free life insurance for full time employees. 403 b plan with company contributions. Units are 14-21 beds and staffing is better than many facilities. Great educators and training for crisis interventions and safety. Work place small enough to build good relationships with peers. PTO is earned by hours worked and length of employment. Managers work with you to give you requested time off when possible. Scheduling is done for six weeks. Flexibility for staff in school. Healthcare insurance available for part time staff working 40 plus hours biweekly. Compensation for certifications in your specialty. Shift differentials. Security guards in ER to ensure staff safety. I have made many friends throughout my years at Cox and left due to relocation. I have cared for many children and adults and it is a place you can have an impact on someone's life if you look for the opportunity.

    Cons

When other units are short you will float although this is a rotation with your peers. They quit compensating for Holistic certifications. You must get it in your area of specialty. Always needing more techs because they hire so many in school.

Good for recent grads, bad for a career

    May 26, 2022 - Lab Technician
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

A lot of variety in a single shift. Working with others to complete a common goal. Management seems to actually care about you.

    Cons

Low pay compared to other jobs needing a bachelor's degree. Only good experience for being a Medical Technologist, but with the extra 1-2 years of schooling don't expect to make over 70k.

    Pros

Great stepping stone to get further in a career in counseling. Looks good on a resume. Good people

    Cons

Mentally draining, management doesn't help. Quite a few moments when management didn't back us or fulfill promises to techs regarding their safety.
