I have been working at CrowdSource full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Doing something big, have clear goals, love my co-workers, learning a ton, see constant improvement, time-off is very fair (major holidays plus the office is closed every year from Christmas through New Years).

    Cons

Things change quickly (typical startup stuff), Not everyone is "in-the-know, training could be more comprehensive.

I have been working at CrowdSource part-time for more than a year

    Pros

-decent pay compared to similar companies -writing work is typically available -assignments are relatively easy to complete

    Cons

-inconsistent editing -pass/fail 4-level system is unfair (it's easy to drop a pay level, but hard to move back up) -encourages a mechanistic, textbook writing style -lack of diversity in writing projects

I have been working at CrowdSource for more than a year

    Pros

Transcribe.com, a.k.a CrowdSource, offers a generally supportive and forgiving atmosphere for the new transcriptionist. Useful feedback is presented positively, where needed. One may work as little or as much as is desired, provided the work is available. There is a tiered pay-grade which makes more lucrative jobs available to the more seriously dedicated workers but it isn't difficult to maintain one's standing. Most jobs are given 36 hrs to complete, which is ample, even for a newbie. There are regular small bonuses and larger, occasional, bonus events. Regular bonuses are based on one's amount of contribution in a given time-frame. Bonus events typically happen when there is a glut of work to turn around. There is a regularly emailed newsletter which includes news, tips and tricks. There are virtual office parties, which can be fun. The pay is reliable and always made within a week of submission. It is usually only a few days.

    Cons

Work is not always available (but it is available more often than it is not). The pay is commensurate with entry level work and really only becomes feasible income when one can solidly complete a half-hour of audio to perfection with an hour at the keys. ($11 - 14ph). There seems to be an assumption that workers are principally available M-F and that their email is always open. This is not my situation, but it may prove no strain to others. I have been at this for a year and still find it difficult to graduate to a speed at which this work can become more than a supplemental income. I'm sure that there are others who have been more dedicated and better suited to the work, so this is certainly no reflection on the company.

I have been working at CrowdSource for less than a year

    Pros

Work when you have time. Easy projects that take under five minutes. Very quick payment with Paypal, sometimes it is the next day.

    Cons

You will not get rich working with them. Sometimes the work is far and few between. The Jr copywriter test isn't the easiest to pass.

I have been working at CrowdSource

    Pros

I love freelance work. Being able to stay at home with my family and write keeps income growing while minimizing travel expenses.

    Cons

Sometimes when my writing is reviewed, the editor is actually incorrect, and there is no way to let them know.

    I worked at CrowdSource

    Pros

was able to work at home, which could have been good. So at least I did not waste gasoline on these guys......

    Cons

They paid me for 5% of my work. What was approved was not even as good as what they did not approve. So it i is perfectly clear that Crowdsource is just getting 40 hours of work out of you and they will only pay you for one hour. And they are getting away with it. They have it so well sewn up legally there is nothing you can do.

I have been working at CrowdSource part-time

    Pros

Generally has a decent amount of work available, though not always. Pay is only half-way decent, but it works out OK once you get used to it and can work quickly. You get paid pretty reliably- sometimes within a day or two. Doesn't usually take more than a week.

    Cons

If you are easily frustrated or take all criticism to heart, this isn't for you. Editing is wildly inconsistent and many of the changes to your work will completely bewilder you. Editors will do anything from change one word to a similar word for no apparent reason, to introduce factual error into your work with their editing. Just roll with it and be grateful your name doesn't show up on the finished product.

I have been working at CrowdSource

    Pros

Sometimes the pay is quick. Some of the articles are interesting. Decent pay if you're desperate. Allows you to work from home.

    Cons

One word. Editors. Im sure there are a small handful of decent editors, but the majority of them are intent on ripping your work to shreds. I worked for this company for almost a year and until a month ago, I was a level 4 writer. Now Im dropped to level 2 and keep getting fails.... What are these editors on? Most of the time they arbitrarily move words around, introduce errors, and accuse of filler/ fluff....when there us none. And submitting a ticket is pointless - the CMs almost always take the editors side, ignoring all concerns and questions. And they are rude and smug! I stay away from the forums because of their holier-than-thou attitude. They act like precious snowflakes and talk down to the writers. My days there are numbered. Im just gonna look for more freelance sites. They may not pay as well, but my sanity will be saved.
