I worked at DCP Midstream LP

      Pros

      Salary, coworkers, talent, vacation time

      Cons

Management decides upgrades, environmental and safety installations by cost, capital wins over O&M too often.

      Advice to Management

Listen to lower ranking talent you hire than abandon them when recommendations address safety and operational problems or upgrades.

      Pros

Benefits are great. Health insurance good. Laid back atmosphere until something goes wrong with process.

      Cons

Uncertainty, they are always changing things and scaring people and that's why they are losing people. Plus nothing is permanent.

      Pros

Great pay & benefits. Relaxed dress code, semi-flexible schedule.

      Cons

-Work hard and do not get rewarded. -Work/life balance is terrible. -DCP announced record DCF (profit) in Q1 2019 and then the very next day announced "Voluntary lay-offs". They force people out so two becomes one again and again until you're so tired you don't want to be there anymore. Glad I left. -No career movement. They just eliminate management positions and make management handle more and more...

      Advice to Management

Treat your people with respect and quit acting like we are just numbers that are easily replaceable. While no one is irreplaceable it would be nice to at least feel like we mattered.

      Pros

      pay, insurance, 401k, vacation.

      Cons

long hours in field operations in some areas, the future of any asset area outside of Colorado is uncertain, company lets well contracts expire, treats any area that isn't in Colorado as unimportant, runs old equipment into the ground, lets work trucks go to 200k+ miles before replacing, creates too many meaningless positions at the home office.

      Pros

Pay, 401k match, Vacation, Good people.

      Cons

Company has no clear focus. Continues to chase the shiny object and not bringing current items to value. Most good people have left leaving people that just need to pay bills. When people leave no one does anything. (No lunch, goodbyes, nothing). Technology is from 1998. They ask for feedback and do nothing with it only to ask again for feedback in 2 months to do nothing with it. Everyone is pretty much miserable...

      Advice to Management

Based on the number of developers focus on 2-3 solid things to get accomplished not 12. Quit saying "Go faster and Do more!" That's not a motivational tag line. Decide what you want. If you want to just deliver quickly then contract seasoned professionals and let them deliver your product. If you want to build a software development department then give the younger less experienced time to learn. Don't expect less...

      Pros

Pay checks keep coming. Some departments are great to work with.

      Cons

Support groups fall short, no plan on what’s next, too much waste on figuring out path forward in organization/departments, lay-offs often, no focus on the business, too much goals, surveys and trust surveys. Employees leaving in HR, safety, integrity, management, accounting..why? Next RIF is 800 people just announced.

      Advice to Management

Lean out and build a good operations leadership strategy. Don’t hold them up with corporate initiatives.

      Pros

-This is a good starter job. -There is an age gap so retirement leads to mentoring & promotions for younger employees

      Cons

They are cheap. They do not offer competitive pay rates the bonus matches you to what your salary should be at competitors- they don't take care of their machinery- but they expect people to manage the plants efficiently anyway. They don't tackle personnel issues in fact if you go to HR, plan on being reprimanded. Their motto is avoid and pretend you aren't there. This is the place that young people start to work...

      Advice to Management

Be honest with people, don't dangle a carrot. When you're laying off an entire department let them know that is why they are training a group in Denver to do their entire job. Don't keep people in the dark- when you're suspicious of your company how can you enjoy your work life balance? This is why DCP perpetuates the toxic culture- they have completely lost employee's trust.
