I have been working at DCP Midstream LP full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent place to get 2-3 years of experience with a larger company
Bonus always paid out, free parking
    Downtown denver office
    Managed the downturn
    Half day fridays

    Cons

Old school work environment. Professional dress, crap cubes. Little flexabiltiy to remote
Big focus on years of experience, even though older employees often don't produce. Not uncommon to have employees with 30+ years of experience, unwilling to train or mentor others
Only way to promote is to get a counter offer
    Good ol' boy system.
New employees don't get much investment or feel special. No value placed on new employees.
Long hours - the employees left from layoffs are busting their hump.

    Advice to Management

Focus on younger generation in technical roles. Stop scaring them off.
Retain good workers. Not just your buddies
Modernize the work environment (office, promotions, training, management styles, flexibility) before other energy companies move in.
Take risks - we change at a snails pace

I have been working at DCP Midstream LP full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job stability, open to office workers having some flexibility in weekly work schedule

    Cons

Oil and Gas is becoming a more volatile market, 30%+ of employees retiring within a few years, some leadership roles have no direct reports - just a place to park marginally effective employees until retirement.

    Advice to Management

Continue to right-size the company, and become more nimble.

    Pros

The colleagues and coworkers are incredible. You will work with intelligent employees who want to get the job done as a team. There are some great people here.

    Cons

Unfortunately, upper management is terrible. Consider this company like a volleyball team that has a lot of great players but terrible coaches. The VP's and Executives don't care about any of the employees, especially the field personnel who actually operate the plants.
There is no transparency because sudden announcements come out about selling assets, laying off Operators, or exploiting Accountants. You know there is a problem when your company has a fire-sale when Oil Prices are at all-time lows.
Sadly, the culture here is poison because of the toxic leadership. Even in HR, there is only one older lady who truly wants to help whereas all the newer or younger HR employees fail to do their job.

    Advice to Management

Please stop being corrupt. Start being honest with your employees.

    Pros

Every corporation is going to have its good and bad, however this company is mostly on the upside of things. Good benefits and each of my supervisors has been interested in my well-being. They work with me regarding family events and time off (vacation and sick, etc).

    Cons

I was led to believe some incorrect things about promotions when I was hired on. Oil and gas industry is too volatile to be really comfortable, however those of us who have been born and raised in this type of economy are all-too-comfortable with it anyhow. Good pay for the job description, not necessarily good pay for the actual job tasks you'll be asked to do.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent about raises and promotions. It seems only your friends get either.
