Pros

If you enjoy working with developmentally disabled adults (DDA), you will find this job rewarding at times. You help them grow every day, and get to share in their excitement of doing just that.

Cons

Poor support from direct supervisors. Have to find own coverage, even in emergency situations (other companies have staff sign up for on-call days). Possible nights away from home if working that shift. Higher-up supervisors will lie about you when terminating employment in order to make it seem like you violated some rule or law. Will slander against your character to other potential employers in the field.

Pros

Benefits, experience in a managerial role, pay.

Cons

Administrator cusses at her participants calling them “psychotic” and “a**hole” I’ve directly observed this behavior. She displays narcissistic tendencies as she does not respect her employees unless they talk bad about others with her. She requires employees to sign documents but doesn’t explain beforehand. If you ask questions regarding anything she has had a final say on, she has yelled, belittled, or threatened your job. When employees advocate for themselves, she flat out says “stop playing victim” and continues to power trip others. She has sent extremely unprofessional emails at 11pm to her office staff (aka managers), talking about her trauma and expecting a response but writing “I’m not expecting anything but if you respond with understood or received, this will be equally disrespectful.” This has created office staff to walk on eggshells around her and say/do what’s needed to stay on her good side for the sake of their job. The majority of the office staff are younger and impressionable. This works to her benefit as she will use them as the communicators for her toxic behaviors, I have personally experienced this as she wanted me to take a “cold approach” to someone I needed to coordinate with on behalf of my participants. This made it extremely difficult to maintain professional relationships outside of this company. In regards to her ResHab participants, she has consistently taken away rights as she reprimands them. She continues to spiral downwards as she loses various participants and employees versus changing her mindset and creating positive morals to live by. After working here for about 2 years, I have consistently experienced past and current employees aligning with what I have stated above.
