Pros

-Many, many ambitious, dedicated and smart people. -Seem great at hiring talent. -Great benefits. -Fun and faced paced atmosphere. -Opportunity for ownership and able to make a impact. -Product sounds amazing. Product is amazing...but...

Cons

...isn't something salesforce and others can't just build themselves. -Fun and faced passed atmosphere hides chaos and disorganization...CEO excels in this world and is a great startup CEO...but he can't transition to a process driven mid-sized company. Expect Vista to replace him soon. -CEO plays favorites and if you're not in the inner circle things can be rough. -Some of the (younger) employees are insecure and possessive about their fiefdoms, and actively bad-mouth you rather than try to help you succeed. -Struggling to close new accounts...outside of founders, only 1 or 2 new logos in last 2 years. -Struggling to implement...many of the deals are sold as future-state/vaporware and fall apart at implementation. Dispatch is involved in legal disputes because of this. -Struggling to keep existing customers...they have lost several significant customers in recent years, including companies that invested their own money into the company as VC. -A culture of half-truths and 'spin' permeates upper management. -They try to spin everything even when the BS is obvious. Like when people leave. Or like for example when Vista Capital bought control of the company by buying out many of the original investors, buying out shares from the founders and buying out all the employees...management insisted this was not a buy-out and claimed this was series B funding. Or like when they lose big customers and pretend it didn't happen or blame lots of not our fault factors. And BTW some of the other GD reviews are pretty suspicious. -Surprisingly tolerant of obvious intimate relationships between managers and their direct reports. You know who I'm talking about. EVERYBODY knows who I'm talking about.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. As CEO, I regret that your experience at Dispatch was anything less than exceptional. When any of our team members move on to the next endeavor, we want them to feel like they were heard, supported, and challenged during their time at Dispatch. I will note that the list of highly engaged, motivated, and rewarded Dispatch employees is very long, and growing each month. Each company has a personality all its own, which intersects with employees in ways both positive and negative. We fight every day to get better -- for our employees, for our service providers out in the field, for our brand partners, and for the end consumers who experience our services. Each win (and yes, each misstep) makes us that much better. In this case, clearly, you formed a perception that did not align with your expectations. I would never debate such a sentiment; it is very real for you. Instead, we calibrate this feedback against additional observations and insights, iterate where needed, and continue to attract, retain, and develop some of the top talent in the industry. This drives us forward towards our mission of helping brands set new standards for service experiences. I thank you for your contributions and wish you well moving forward in your career. -Avi

Pros

Rarely is a company a true meritocracy, but good ideas and hard work will get you far at Dispatch. I hope we stay this way as we scale. When I first came to Dispatch I planned on working here for 2 years and then getting my MBA. After two years at Dispatch, I don't feel like I need my MBA, I need to keep learning here. I rarely found myself "fitting in" at other startups because I don't love to binge drink or spend my whole weekend also with coworkers--this is fine, but at Dispatch I've found my home with other hard workers who also enjoy just bonding over lunch and then going home to their families, not the bar. Some might call this a "lack of culture" but a company doesn't need to be an episode of Silicon Valley to be successful.

Cons

Everyone has really good ideas, and we have to stay focused. We have so many customers and interesting companies that work with us, that it's really hard to prioritize them--we need to build a healthy discourse around our partnership options and the choices we make.

Cons

- Expected to work 80hr+ weeks, while getting paid below market rate - No observation of national/secular holidays - Management team has never built a software company before - Aggressively toxic, blame-centric culture. - No interest in building a *good* product for users. - Designer retention is really weak.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We're sorry that you did not enjoy your time at Dispatch and will take your feedback to heart. While we appreciate the transparency that Glassdoor provides, we'd hope that former and current employees try to represent their experiences here fairly. We make no secret of the fact that Dispatch is an intense, high-energy place to work. However, if an employee truly worked eighty hours weeks, they are expected to ask for help from their team or to manage their time more effectively. I'm sorry you felt unsupported in that way! Our door is always open if you want to talk more about your time here. Reach out any time at kate@dispatch.me.
