Diversified Metal Fabricators is a failing business. The founder died a few years ago and the daughter that took over has no idea what she's doing. Upper management is full of empty promises, a strong lack of communication, and the urge to quickly fire anyone without any discussion of improvement. Within the last 6 months the entire engineering department has either quit or been fired. Two weeks from today there won't be an engineer on staff.
They are bleeding legacy knowledge due to uncertainty. Everyone knows they are one wrong comment away from being let go with no severance. As a result no one is willing to communicate honestly with upper management. This company used to be full of people with 10+ year tenure. The entire sales team left and is now all accounts are managed by the owner's 23 year old step son. The machine shop struggles to produce half of what it could produce 5 years ago. And the operations manager has been replaced 3 times in the past 6 years, each manager more incompetent and full of empty promises than the last.
The only thing keeping this company alive is the assembly crew. They're the only ones left with legacy knowledge, and they can assemble faster than the machine shop can produce.
I would not recommend accepting a position at this company. I would be genuinely surprised if DMF existed in 5 years. Their patents have expired. Their competitors are more innovative and less expensive. DMF has no clear path to reducing costs or creating something beyond a gimmick. They're struggling to keep their big customers, and they price gouge every "small fry" customers to compensate.
