I have been working at Dow full-time

    Pros

Dow has been a great place to work The wages are good and the people are nice. I wish I could stay in this position.

    Cons

The Dow Chemical Company has merges with Dow Corning, and now has merged with Dow Agrosciences and Dupont, then will split into three new companies.

    Advice to Management

I have no advice to management. They are trying to survive like anyone else. They are being fair and are telling us as much as they can as soon as they know it.

I have been working at Dow full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great healthcare benefits
Scheduled pay based on training completion
Will pay for schooling for process tech degree
    Very safety oriented

    Cons

Tier progression is based on amount of time worked, not how hard or good you work
Require degree to go process, unlike some other plants
Depending on placement, may be treated inferior by plant operators
    Extremely strict

    Advice to Management

Due to other plants who only require 3 years plant experience and not a degree, Dow loses a lot of employees. If Dow were to adopt this policy again, you would retain a high amount of employees who have plant experience already instead of fresh out of college students who have no ideas the rules or workings of the plant.

    Pros

    - Great company, you get access to incredible resources to get things done.
    - You can build a whole career only moving jobs within Dow, including international assignments

    Cons

    - Headquarters in Michigan small town is not for everyone. Upward career movements are limited unless you relocate there.

    - A lot of couples work for the company which creates odd and sometimes uncomfortable situations.
