Great management, continuous training opportunities, strong team of co-workers, several opportunities for improvement made by the company.

    Cons

long hours, in-realistic deadlines, very custom and time consuming buyers.

I worked at Drees Homes full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, large company, diverse products (homes, condos, commercial)

    Cons

Housing market crash really hurt the company (approx 2007) but back doing great things.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work and great forward thinking.

I have been working at Drees Homes full-time

    Pros

On the job training and hands on teaching
Benefits aren't bad as far as milage is paid as well as good health benefits

    Cons

Management is lacking and at the same time a few are micro-mangers to the tee. As a builder trainee you may get shoved into a builder position without review of pay or even proper knowledge on jobs you take over

    Advice to Management

Let the builders do their job and stay out of the way until needed. When people transition in and out there needs to be a 2 week minimum for the tranisition

I worked at Drees Homes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with were great! We had a strong work ethic and always pitched in to help each other out.

    Cons

Cross communication between departments was horrible. It was as if the different departments were competing to see who would come out on top. The blame game was constant between departments. This company's management is "the good ole' boys club" style. Upper management is very antiquated and not willing to utilize current technology to improve certain aspects of business flow. Pay is also standard across the different divisions, instead of based on the city's economy you are employed in.

    Advice to Management

Stop performing for your pocket, and perform for the employees in your division, for ALL employees in the company. Management should have to learn how to use computers and software as the people they hire are expected to know.

I have been working at Drees Homes full-time

    Pros

Private builder that is close knit. Decent pay. Corporate executives and regional managers are very nice and easy to get along with. They do care about growing the company but lack the structure to do so.

    Cons

Disorganized and trying to forcefully grow the company without fixing problems that the CEO himself presents every year. Some people who are picked to manage or move on in the management process lack essential skills that would weed them out anywhere else.

I worked at Drees Homes (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Company, for the Drees Family

    Cons

If you are one of the Chosen Few, great gig. But they hire more than they need and fire the rest. When you do get terminated they will void all of your pending commissions. so you end up work for up to a year for the Drees family for NOTHING. You signed the agreement, but thats the only way you can get the job, really shameful.

    Advice to Management

    Shameful policy, needs to change

I worked at Drees Homes part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Part time employment for community representatives.

    Cons

I worked for this company for three years and had an excellent track record. After being mistreated by a coworker (total disrespect, condescending, tossed my framed family photograph in her trashcan, false accusations) I reached out to management. When management failed to help I sought out the help of HR. The following day I was fired.

The week I complained to management, an employee let me know that they were going to get rid of me and told me my job was posted on a local job sight.

Complete lack of training, leadership, respect, communication and consideration from management.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and follow through when there are complaints.

I worked at Drees Homes full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

85 years in business, family owned. Small regional office in Indianapolis lends itself to learning and participating in many aspects of the business.

    Cons

Small regional office reduces ability to promote and grow.

    Pros

You will not find a more supportive team of co-workers. Great products and a management team that cares about their customers.

    Cons

Customers can be challenging. It's tough to see nice people unhappy with some aspect of their new home, especially since everyone at Drees has good intentions.
