      Pros

      EMBO provides a dynamic, international environment. Work conditions, benefits, and salaries are excellent, clearly above average for Germany. The work atmosphere is on the academic style side. Intense but rewarding. Strong values and dedication to science and the research community.

      Cons

      Most of the coworkers are on time-limited (9 years max) contracts. This leads to a loss of very experienced staff and general anxiety among staff for their future. The work style can be intensive. EMBO's output is remarkable with a small staff but exhaustion and overstretching of resources are risks.

      Pros

      Good salary and benefits, nice colleagues, direct managers mostly supportive

      Cons

      Individual experiences might vary - but my experience was positive. The only slight downside is that as it's a small organisation possibilities for promotion are limited. However, if you're proactive there are possibilities for career development within individual roles.

      It's one of the best fellowship you can get in Europe. Good salary, great pension scheme, great family allowance.
