    Amazing community and relationship building opportunities Opportunity to pour into children and families. Great benefits and donated goods

    Cons

    Challenging personally, emotionally and spiritually to work Secondary trauma experience from working with those in trauma Low monetary compensation (mostly made up for with other compensation benefits)

    Assistant Counselor

    Pros

    Great loving, supportive community growing opportunity for career in counseling as well as spiritual life housing provided use of all facilities on property including chapel, pavillion, pool, and gym individual counseling provided for you

    Cons

    Must learn to set boundaries with self and co-workers to have time off. If you talk about work before/after work, you'll feel like you're working all the time. (This could be a pro too since it teaches you how to set boundaries.) Also, because assistant counselors are provided housing and required to live on-ranch, they must remain unmarried until their contract is up.

    Pros

    Great community, Faith based, beautiful place, safe place to deal with emotional issues, opportunity to be family to the hurting.

    Cons

    Difficult to be involved anywhere else/schedule makes it hard to have outside social life.

    Staff are excellent. Very close knit community.

    The emotional stress of the work is taxing, but the staff is very supportive.
