Pros

The myths sold to new joiners and reinforced daily are that the firm is (1) an elite top tier consultancy, (2) doling out high-level strategy for creme de la creme clients, (3) filled with amazing talent, (4) led by some of the finest consulting partners in the industry, and is (5) growing by acquiring world-class specialist firms. Who wouldn't want to work for this company? Right?

Cons

In truth, the firm is (1) a run-of-the-mill bodyshop that (2) mostly does low-level grunt work for 3rd tier clients, is (3) filled with staff who may be jolly to have a pint with but lack even the most basic competency and skills needed to be a consultant, managed by (4) partners who are arrogant, self-absorbed, and toxic to the core and only care about their stock options (5) acquiring barely solvent firms filled with people everyone dreads working with. There is not a whiff of training, support, or mentorship to be found. The poor sods are thrown onto ridiculously scoped projects with ill-defined deliverables, sold by partners who somehow convinced clients we were experts in topics nobody in the firm has ever worked on. Literally a case of telling a client how to make the perfect cuppa when you’ve never even boiled water before. The internal staff Teams channel is filled with messages like, "just got staffed on a PMO support project, can anyone fill me in on how PMO works and send over some docs you used on previous clients?" The remainder of the project is spent re-using old slides from other clients and doing Google searches. 90% of the work is reshaping old deliverables to be relevant to current client. The firm is a talent vacuum, sucking the life out of anyone with an ounce of competence. As other commenters have said, I didn't know just how bad it was until I started speaking to recruiters and hiring managers. The word is out and it's telling that in over a decade of being in business and with hundreds of ex-employees (due to crazy high forced and voluntary attrition), only a tiny handful (fewer than a dozen) have ended up at an FTSE 100, MBB, T2, FAANG, PE, VC, IB. The only thing keeping all the staff from walking out is a rough job market and one that is only rougher with Elixirr on your CV. Yet despite all this, management repriced options for staff recently because they are aware of how many people are currently looking to leave.

Pros

-Great people at the analyst and consulting level, made a handful of close friends, which was the best thing to come out of this job -Worked in London for a few months (they do not offer this opportunity for US based employees anymore) -Built relationship with the clients, and received a few job offers from them

Cons

-Toxic culture, it is NOT merit based whatsoever. Whoever can play the game the best gets promoted -Quite literally the opposite of an "employee first" culture (ask management about their employee churn rate, it is laughable) -Overworked, severely underpaid -Untrustworthy/Non-transparent -NO CAREER PATH, please save yourself and go work for a company that represents modern working world values

Pros

- Amazing marketing team, but don't be fooled by it - Short timeline to get a promotion - Great people Analyst - Consultant grade (really smart, high bar for delivery) ○ Mixed bag at Manager level, some are amazing and some are incredibly lazy and push all their work off to lower grades - Opportunities to take leadership roles on (as an Analyst) very soon after starting, leading to great visibility and experience early in your career - Outside of COVID, awesome opportunities to travel especially given the global nature of the firm.

Cons

- Very apparent lack of D&I and overall empathy for employees ○ Lack of POC (and often tokenized when POC are hired), women in high positions (only 2 Consulting Principals are women), and little to no LGBTQ+ representation ○ Hiring a few token roles does NOT mean you are appropriately educating your employees or respecting POC; there are either a few or NO representatives from the Black and Latino / Hispanic communities - Toxic culture created by favoritism, unqualified / young people in Manager and grades above, and poor management at Partner and C-suite level - Elixirr markets a culture of innovation - you'll be lucky to work on anything innovative. It's a lot of PMO, TOM, the usual consulting work and rarely anything "innovative" - "Lean" style of working which really means you are doing a lot of work for below market pay (not surprising for consulting, but it would be nice to be paid for the expectation and standard bar) - CEO wants the entire firm to be managed around the UK team. This means there is little respect for time zones, cultural differences, etc. and creates an imbalance for those who are far from their colleagues geographically vs. those who go into the (ONLY) office to learn from others, get facetime with Partners, etc. - They're very cheap and provide minimal support beyond the basic. For example, when COVID kicked off many companies helped their employees get setup at home with a desk, monitors, an ergonomic chair, etc. Elixirr did not offer at home support except for a on a case-by-case basis (re: favoritism) - Lots of fear mongering, you can see this from the posts stating that most positive posts are forced. This is absolutely true, there are often conversations where Partners ask to have Glassdoor remove negative posts, which speaks to a larger problem. People are scared into not speaking up, not asking for support, and not providing less than positive feedback for fear of backlash on their opportunity to get a bonus, get promoted, etc.
