Pros

GOOD FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS! College and up? .. Stop and Shop pays more. One of the only good things that you can get from working at AMC Theaters is the free movies. Another good thing is you get paid more then $0. Scheduling is pretty flexible. If you request availability they are flexible with college and high school schedule. See CONS for vacation availability...

Cons

Where to start? PAY You get paid $7.50 an hour to slave for people who don't have enough manners or common sense as to put something in a trash can. Not to mention, a large popcorn is $7.50. The pay is a joke! There is NO extra pay for holidays. The company keeps stating you will get a raise, yet that never seems to happen. EMPLOYEES I realize this is an equal opportunity employer, yet they hire people with literally no common sense and seem to fire those who work hard and mess up a few times. Many employees act immature and yet the mature ones who do their job get into trouble. I recommended a friend of mine to AMC and he got hired.. he quit his first shift! Can't blame him... Employee morale is not high and people do not feel excited about working at the theater. MANAGEMENT The GM of the theater is the only one who seems serious about the job and workplace. All other supervisors and shift managers don't seem to care about anything. When it's busy and there are long lines, all the managers do is criticize how "slow" you are when you are trying your hardest. The supervisors hang in the office for the whole night and only come out if a guest needs assistance. If you follow company procedures and policies and are questioned by customers, they always follow this stupid "Guest First" policy where they change the rules and make you look like an idiot. Managers always threaten you of getting written up "DW's" for the stupidest things. Not to mention, if you do get written up, they make you sign it over a month later, so you cannot remember when whatever "violation" occurred. I wonder if that's the purpose or if our management is slow, which i don't doubt. Want a promotion? You have to be someone's favorite... Ive been there since late 2008 and they promote people who got hired 3 months ago. Makes so sense. management doesnt take harassment seriously, they joke about it instead. If you are a girl, good luck... SCHEDULING Scheduling manager's don't seem to care about sleeping habits, etc.. You could close on a Friday night and open on Saturday morning. The schedules are never near the same. One week you get can up to 40 hours and the next, you can work for 2 days, maybe 12 hours if you're lucky. The management doesn't care about your life outside of work.. they seem to relate eveything to AMC and your shift. HOLIDAYS/VACATIONS Say goodbye to family and friends. Unless you request the day off a few months ahead of time, they don't honor your request for time off. No extra pay on holidays even though management states it will be extra pay. If you start work and you go on vacation, you have to tell the scheduling manager a thousand times because they always end up scheduling you for a shift when you're away and you can't find an employee to cover.. You get written up for it even though it isn't your fault. Theaters (for some reason) are open 365 days a year unless there is a natural disaster and they get the go-ahead for corporate. SICK (DAYS) Ha! NONE! If you call in sick, management always threatens to terminate you if you don't show up. And if you do show up sick, they (sometimes) send you home early. All they care about is if someone can take your shift, not if you are well or not. And also threatens to fire you if nobody can cover your shift when you get a sudden illness. You're better off doing a no call/no show... nothing seems to happen anyway.
