Pros

AP allowed me to connect with hardworking, intelligent, and ambitious people. I’ve worked very hard but experienced career development and growth. I worked on exciting accounts and met great clients. I’m really thankful for the people at AP; I’ve had good managers.

Cons

The AP that I started working for won many “Best Places to Work” awards, but AP is not the same as it was, and I don’t think AP would win any employee-voted awards at this time. I no longer feel like a valued individual at AP. Many benefits have been cut; bonuses don’t exist, pay is much lower than industry averages, and vacation is more difficult to book. AP is focused on cost-cutting and efficiency for a private equity company. We are given more accounts, clients, and work. Most coworkers work past 5 pm daily for a very low salary. The current workload isn’t sustainable, and it's a place to learn fast, burnout, and leave. Many of my coworkers feel extremely burnout and overworked, and no changes are happening. Promotions used to be fast if you worked hard, but currently, if you work a 10-hour day, you can get a 2-3% pay increase, and you probably won't get promoted. It's sad to see such a great company change, but that's how private equity-backed companies work.

Thank you for your review, this feels like a candid assessment that was really thought through. While I can't change the way you feel about the company, I would like to address a couple of points. First, in terms of compensation, we have recently completed a comprehensive salary analysis and are very confident that our pay structures are quite competitive with other agencies in our ecosystem, and that our benefits are likely better. Second, I want to be clear that no agency can reject clients because they are difficult or demanding; difficult and demanding is the name of the game. We'd all love clients that are always easy and don't require much! That said, the clients that should be rejected are those that are blatantly unreasonable or who demean team members / don't treat them with basic respect. On that score, we have rejected several clients, including one that was over $1 million in annual revenue. That said, my door is always open if you'd like to discuss any of these issues - I always appreciate candid feedback. Thanks! --Matt
