Pros
Total freedom to work on whatever you want provided you can justify that it is aligned with the organization's overall mission. Managers are more like mentors. Decision making is done by the people closest to the problem, not by people highest up. Perks are great but the reason why we have them is even better: everyone's time is valued so highly that they are encouraged to try to outsource anything that isn't core to the operations team or to outside service providers.
Cons
Lack of transparency in management. There is very little clear communication between the business side and engineering. For as much as Addepar talks about bringing transparency to the financial world, there is very little internally as to key metrics.
