Pros

- top quartile pay relative to peers in comp consulting - culture varies depending on team, but in general, laid back and not corporate at all which is good - casual dress code, especially fridays - socially, most people are great - if youre genuinely passionate about compensation, youll love this job - partners and most associate partners are top notch, but thats it

Cons

- extremely high turnover - no training - long hours in the summer - lots of gossiping - you're not a "consultant" until director level. pretty much a data analyst that does all the grunt work - incompetent operations team for the most part, which is frustrating because all data processes go through them - highly selective few very smart people, more than half the firm is incompetent - office environment and location is terrible, the kitchen is disgusting, rats run around during the night... - technology is pathetic even though mclagan is a data company - Aon is the only company in the building that doesn't subsidize for the cafeteria downstairs that serves overpriced mediocre food

Pros

Clearly defined career ladder Exposure to a wide range of clients and projects.

Cons

Inconsistent team culture. Some teams feel clique-oriented, so it's difficult for new employees to integrate. Training can be limited, with a strong expectation to learn independently.
