Pros

When I joined Avanade I was told "we're 80% owned by Accenture, 20% owned by Microsoft - but they're pretty much hands off" and that was good. The first year or so was really good, the corporate feel was a good solid friendly outfit in spite of the parents, with a whole bunch of professional types there to deliver good things in a correct manner. We achieved good things, we did them well, we were happy doing them. Alas those days are gone.

Cons

Accenture's grasp tightened noticeably while I was there and Avanade became a source of resource in their eyes - and Accenture staff are the least moral, most verminous individuals one can imagine. They have no qualms whatsoever about demanding late working as a regular event, weekends, distance, the lot. They have an attrition rate of 50% in the first year which just goes to show their churn 'n' burn approach - and this is to real people with real lives and families, and a lot of them brought over from India to do the job. Imagine being 5000 miles from home and stuck up that certain creek without a specific paddle. Options for promotion - minimal, really. Clear cut divides between roles that are super tough to cross despite the hype. Colleagues (better than I!) didn't make the cut. Salary was OK but not world changing, senior management is out of touch, mandatory Corporate Jollity days are frequent and excruciating if you're not a woo yay go team type of individual (or to put it another way, a bubbleheaded cretin) and the values are all on paper but dissolve quickly enough if the parent company has alternative demands. The differentiation and the good stuff have been eroded away.

Pros

A really nice office with perks and company culture that come from Accenture.

Cons

There is a prioritization with getting certifications and doing a lot of tasks outside of full time client work, just to get promoted. If you are in the bench and it’s a slow season, there is a high risk of getting laid off. You will lose your sense of purpose all for the trendy AI culture. The company thrives on buzz terms and marketing solutions rather than actually solving anything.
