Pros

Located in sunny Florida. Some Buyers have been at company for over 20 years. Tianne was very authentic. Her retail story is amazing.

Cons

Constantly changing strategy and buying process. Expectations are too high for workload and size of business area. Rotated 5 CEOs/CMOs in 3 years. Every 6 months an internal review of merchandising team. If your performance was good and someone didn't like you then you were let go. Expected to just follow along, ask no questions and do as you are told. That is not the mindset of a true merchant. One day you could be the favorite and the next day you are out. The treatment of buyers was terrible, and they all feel unappreciated. Absolutely too much travel expected. Buying process unclear. Didn't feel like you were in charge of your area. Not a normal business review or open to buy process. Allocation by the planning team was horrible. Stores would be out of stock and you would get yelled at for poor merchandising. Management would talk a good game related to teamwork, but everyone worked in silos. They do not pay well compared to other retailers. They sell you on the Bealls culture and lifestyle of Florida. Don't buy into it. The stress level is extremely high. Managers say they are authentic and being genuine. They look you in the eye and then talk behind your back to management team. You don't feel supported at all.
