Pros

The company is tanking hard, so most positions are remote. This allows you to not have to move to Boise to be laid off in 1-2 months after being hired.

Cons

Over the past five years this company has gone through the gambit. They brought in a crook of a man and placed him as Chief Digital Officer. He terminated all of the IT positions to outsource to his personal company in India. No one in management or leadership looked into this and they sent millions of dollars over sees. They laid off several of the marketing teams and outsourced those to local companies around the nation. Expedia could see knew this company wasn't going to survive long. They sold it to a corporation who takes dying companies. They have several successful companies, but every two years they buy a company getting ready to fail, and use them as a tax write off. The new owners brought in new leadership again. This leader wasn't coy about the health of the company. During our all hands meeting that happened monthly, he would tell us we didn't even make half of our financial goals that month. Eventually they decided to lay off the entire engineering team. They needed to save money, so getting rid of the team that controls the website was an intelligent business plan. They keep bringing in new leadership. I think there were 12 leaders in total. Yet it doesn't seem they can afford those who make just barely "livable" salaries and actually make the company run. The team members constantly asked for help, and leadership would turn down requests to hire AFTER the interview process. For an ecommerce company, trying to take care of their customers, they sure don't do a great job getting products to the customers. There were several customer complaints that shipping took 5 - 14 days for their products to arrive. Why buy from them when Amazon carries the same product and you get it in no more than 2 days?! Most recently they laid off 40 employees in October of 2021. The whole company is built on their content, and they got rid of their entire content team. They are a shady company, and has unethical work practices. You are expected to work 80-100 hours a week, and when you don't commit to that, you are ousted and fired. They give you "unlimited time off" but when you take it any vacation, you're accused of not being committed to the company. After several years and full commitment, you're still not safe.
