Pros
The biggest pro of working at ClassPass is the people. All members of my team are kind and hardworking. Everyone is willing to jump in and lend a hand when necessary, there's very little "that's not in my job description" attitude. My team leaders are some of the smartest people I've ever met, learning from them is a joy and huge advantage. There is also a culture of testing, learning and failing forward. Everyone from leadership down admits to face plants and uses them as learning opportunities. The benefits are good: - Great parental leave (for the US) - Affordable insurance - Accrual PTO with plenty of holidays and additional company-wide "wellness days" on an ad hoc basis - Decent work/life balance
Cons
Mindbody recently acquired ClassPass. While the two companies both work in the wellness industry and have similar values, the cultures are very different. This isn't necessarily bad, but has been an adjustment and there have been many headaches throughout the process. Prior to the transition, ClassPass was very much a startup with a hustle culture. Ideas and projects moved quickly, with all teams (including HR and legal) embodying that ideology. Mindbody is different, with a more established, "traditional" corporate culture. There are many, many processes in place, which is naturally at odds with a fast moving startup. Cons: - Lack of communication around the acquisition - Removal of the free ClassPass membership for employees
