Pros
Coffman's culture stand supreme to any other engineering office I've worked in. Very friendly staff and management. Coffman Engineers managers are legitimately concerned with the whole person, not just with working people so much that they burn out. A happy person creates a happy and efficient employee. Coffman is very family focused and has always asked me to consult my spouse with big career decisions. Overtime or comp-time is a huge benefit that you don't see in other companies in AE industry...especially in Spokane, WA. I've never had vacation or personal days rejected by a manager. They have the mentality that we work hard and play hard. I feel there's been ample opportunity for my career growth in the company. Each individual is encouraged to champion tasks, clients, or projects based on their individual drive. I feel like my work is reviewed thoroughly which reduces the stress of needing to know everything on your own. Coffman produces quality drawings that are accurate and controlled. Mentoring inside each department is very beneficial. Young people are taught thoughtfully by more experienced engineers and drafters as they progress. People are given many examples of calculations and drawings to look at as they work on their projects. Sharing workload is something I really like at Coffman. If one person is overloaded with work, effort is made to try and smooth out the work so no one person feels taken advantage of. I like our HSA health plan. Lot's of opportunity for saving money for future medical expenses. I've never had to pay for expenses out-of-pocket because I always have HSA money to use.
Cons
Multidiscipline requires lots of communication between departments on large projects. When we receive help from other offices, people don't seem to take ownership as much as if it were a project from their own office.
