I am confirming your comment to have interests and responsibilities outside of work and take time off (work/life balance). I have seen people bludgeon themselves with overtime for months and months on end. They say they can handle it, and maybe physically they can, but all the while if they were honest they would have to recognize that they were getting bitter about the situation. This is not healthy, helpful, or sustainable. Your manager should be looking out for you, but each person needs to know their threshold and speak up. Sounds like you have a good balance.
Regarding construction site experience, we need to get you out there. You will definitely have more opportunities as you get experience, but early in your career job site experience can be invaluable. Make sure to mention this desire to your manager (at the very least during the annual Employee Development Plan meeting). Thanks for your comments. - Dave Ruff, President
