Pros

Smart, passionate, hardworking people. Great use of AI and help understanding and using AI. If you're looking at support,

Cons

Goal posts moved constantly. Company Culture down the toilet. Your KPIs or metrics will be changed every year to something that makes no sense to wipe out the hard work you've done. Constant mini layoffs. If your in support you wont get any work life balance. Rotating schedule seems like hell.

Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

Cons

Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

Pros

Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

Cons

Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
