Pros

Honestly, this used to be a wonderful health system to be apart of and I was proud to say I worked here. Many years later, I no longer feel this way. So much has changed and not in a good way either.

Cons

Leadership is extremely out of touch with job roles and responsibilities. They base 100% of their decision making on unrealistic metrics. If a vacant position needs to be filled, then your department has to be working at 100% at all times, if not, the vacant position won’t get approved to be filled. If you’re not a doctor or a nurse, then you’re not valued. The newest CEO only took time to recognize nurses during nurses week, shared a Cone Health billboard thanking nurses system wide, and so on. The week prior to nurses week, was lab week. We didn’t get any kind of recognition or thanks, not from him or anyone else from the senior leadership. All we got was a coloring sheet taped to the wall in the break room that we had to color ourselves. Currently, it’s a means to an end, but if given the opportunity to work anywhere else, I would.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience has left you feeling undervalued, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond. First, we recognize that every role in our organization — clinical and non-clinical — is essential to the care we provide. All of our support teams are critical to our mission, and it’s clear from your review that we have more work to do in making that appreciation felt consistently. Regarding leadership and staffing decisions, we know that operating requirements and metrics can sometimes feel disconnected from day-to-day realities. Our intent is to balance quality, safety and financial responsibility while supporting departments with the resources they need. We are continuing to review our staffing and approval processes to ensure they are both realistic and responsive to team members’ needs. Feedback like yours helps inform those efforts. We appreciate your input.
