Pros

Fellow lab staff are incredible, some of the best people I have met in my life. Some higher paying companies see Core Lab training as a positive.

Cons

Unprofessional management behaviour. If someone takes a grievance to local management they will cover it up and label them a trouble maker. Fluids manager will regularly go into huffs and shut his office/blank staff in corridors. Mix of terrible supervisors and great supervisors. The good ones actively encourage younger staff to "get off the sinking ship", the bad ones will try to use their staff as scapegoats for their own mistakes and have been spoken to by HR for frequent workplace bullying. Low pay for lab positions, even skilled and hard-working staff will be passed up for promotion in favour of management favourites. Bare minimum holiday entitlement and no flexibility in hours even during oil downturn. Expected to do supervisors job when he has no clue what he's doing. Much of my 5 years spent there was training new staff due to experienced staff leaving when refused reasonable pay rises.

Pros

Exceptional Growth Opportunities: This company prioritizes internal promotions and offers options for career advancement, giving employees opportunities to achieve their professional goals. The leadership team is approachable, supportive, and genuinely invested in employee development, creating a positive work. There is a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and growth.

Cons

Poor Communication Channels: information can be inconsistent, leaving employees unclear about goals, changes, or expectations. Lack of Transparency in some groups: employees are sometimes left in the dark about key decisions or team performance, which can create uncertainty. Minimal Celebrations and Recognition of success: wins and milestones both individual and team-based are rarely celebrated, hard work often goes unnoticed. This leads to decrease in morale and missed opportunities to boost motivation and team spirit.
