Pros

Career and Professional Growth Diverse and Challenging Projects: EPAM is known for working with major global clients across various industries (like finance, media, and healthcare). This provides employees with the opportunity to work on diverse, complex, and impactful projects, preventing stagnation. Emphasis on Learning and Development: EPAM places a strong focus on continuous learning. They offer extensive internal and external training programs, mentorship opportunities, and support for professional certifications. This helps employees stay up-to-date with the latest technologies. "Engineering DNA" and Expertise: The company has a reputation for its deep-rooted engineering culture. Employees can learn from highly skilled colleagues and technical leaders, which can be a significant benefit for career growth, especially for those in technical roles. Global Exposure and Relocation Opportunities: With offices in over 55 countries, EPAM offers the chance to work with global teams and, in some cases, provides opportunities for international relocation through programs like "EPAM without Borders."

Cons

Based on analysis of public employee reviews and industry discussions, here are some of the commonly cited "cons" or drawbacks of working at EPAM Systems. Job Stability and "Bench" Time Project-Based Job Security: As a professional services company, EPAM's business model is project-driven. This means an employee's job security can be tied to the company's ability to win new client projects. This can lead to periods of being "on the bench" (not assigned to a project), which can create anxiety and uncertainty for employees. Risk of Layoffs: When the market slows down or a client project is completed, employees on the bench for too long may be at a higher risk of being laid off. This is a common concern in the IT services industry, but it's a frequent topic in discussions about EPAM. Uncertainty with Client-Side Interviews: Even after being hired by EPAM, employees often need to go through an additional technical interview with the client to be assigned to a project. Some employees have reported that this process can be difficult and that they were rejected by the client after multiple rounds, leaving them on the bench.

Thanks for leaving such a thoughtful review! We're always thrilled when our employees feel supported and take advantage of their growth opportunities. We'd like to address your concerns as concisely as we can. Employees with no current project assignment are still eligible for employee benefits. This time during your employment is crucial for your development as an EPAMer. Employees should use this time with no current project assignments to get feedback from their peers, update their profile, take learning assessments and look for their next opportunity on an EPAM project. If you are unhappy with your situation, we encourage you to create a development plan with your manager. If you have additional feedback about the structure of work at EPAM, we would appreciate hearing it! We are consistently focused on new ways to improve employee satisfaction and engagement and are always open to new ideas on what we could improve. We welcome your suggestions. Pros

Interesting projects, high tech standards and internal knowledge sharing, and a rich representation of all possible Slavic accents.

Cons

Engineering-first culture results in obnoxiously fragmented internal tech platforms because errybody wants to build it themselves. Not a big deal, just engineers doing what engineers will do.
