Pros
Supportive, inclusive environment with opportunities to develop skills, network, and contribute to great research under PHENOMENAL principal investigators. Emory has a great hub for employees to take online courses *for free* in various subject areas, and they will assist with exam fees for certain certifications (to my knowledge).
Cons
In academia, pay sucks...period. But this doesn't mean Emory should lowball its employees simply because it's Emory. This is a constant issue that is brought up at every staff or town hall meeting and the response is basically along the lines of "We're Emory. Deal with it." Emory wants high-level work in exchange for giving employees peanuts. The work demands and cost of living are too high to receive such little pay, ESPECIALLY when I have found other similar roles across universities that pay substantially more. Also, I don't see much opportunity for career advancement in my area, unless you switch roles completely.
