Pros
The coworkers are all competent and willing to go above and beyond for one another. The compensation like insurance is great and raises are every year based on merit. There is a strong Epic culture that puts the patient first and demands that the code works. During covid there were no layoffs and required in person work like culinary were given other opportunities to shift work, like becoming testers, until we were back in person.
Cons
Your enjoyment and amount of stress will directly correlate between what application and team lead you are assigned. If you get a bad one, then there will be little warning on how you can improve before being pushed out. Always remember that Epic is a corporation first and foremost that is willing to churn through its workers. Frequently key areas are understaffed due to this burn through, despite the fact Epic is so large. The leadership also does not believe in work from home and has had questionable behavior in the past in regards to covid handling. Such as trying to force us back early and forcefully removing safety options for those who require a mask, such as removing mask required locations to watch the monthly epic staff meeting.
