Pros
Salary, healthcare, and retirement (401k) seemed to be at or above other comparable companies. However, in the 4 years I worked there I did see a decrease in what was being offered. I expect the trend to continue. The employees I worked with were all very nice but an underlying current of ambivalence to corporate was present.
Cons
A continuing lack of work or cutbacks in work undermined morale as folks became more aware of the vulnerability of their jobs. Frequent and unexpected layoffs were not a surprise during my time there. And when an employee was laid off, there was little compassion from corporate. One day you're a valuable and important contributor and the next day you're garbage. By far my biggest beef was with middle and senior management who had little to no human relations skills. In my four years there I never once was engaged/talked to by middle management. I was just another cog in the wheel undeserving of any affirmation or recognition regardless of my contributions. Finally, despite corporate propaganda to the contrary, there was little appetite to have folks develop professionally or to assist them to do so. "Why train an employee to do his job better if he/she may possibly then leave their position and advance or move to a different department"?
