Pros
FMC is an excellent company for those needing experience in the O&G industry. They provide high quality training to help employees learn the business more quickly. I believe the company is respected within the industry, which looks good on the resume. The 401K benefit is excellent. They only hire high-quality, talented employees that are wonderful to work with and there is very good comradery among staff.
Cons
If you are not ex-military or an Aggie, you may have trouble getting taken seriously and this may impact your mobility and promotability within the organization causing you to stagnate. Engineers are an exception to this. The benefits have shrunk over the past few years as attention is centered more around profits than employee satisfaction. For example, the pension benefit was cut and medical is definitely not as good. FMC is a finger-pointing organization and a great deal of time and energy is given to blaming and CYA efforts. There is not much work/life balance for those in or advancing into management.
