Pros

Middle management is amazing. I love my coworkers and supervisors. I truly enjoy my job and going into work everyday despite the cons. Dental insurance is comparable to other plans. Opportunities to help other departments if you’re a hard worker and motivated.

Cons

Health insurance is the absolute worst I’ve ever had. Premiums and deductibles are extraordinarily high and the plan pays for nothing. There is no short term disability. There is no vision coverage. Other countries get several more vacation days than the USA while we are over here working the day after thanksgiving which is incredibly slow and unproductive. PTO needs to be increased to be competitive. Females in the workplace are overlooked. Culture and morale is at an all time low. Holiday parties and get togethers are a thing of the past. This company is cheap and stingy - plan on bringing in your own office supplies and Kleenex because they are not supplying absolutely anything extra unless you’re an outside sales representative. Company claims to be environmentally responsible but refuses to switch to LED lightbulbs or to turn off banks of lights during the day when natural light streams in. Favoritism still exists towards men.

Pros

I like my coworkers and my GM is a good .

Cons

The business model and lean staffing is simply unsustainable. Entry level pay, part time, little training, no commissions. Fastenal is focused on the sale rather than the customer. The wing it mentatility leaves customer service lacking. It's a roll coaster of putting one fire out after the other. They sale the position during the interview process but after your in there's empty promises with no real timelines for when the advancement is coming. Upper management seems out of touch with the day to day business. If you ask for help they simply say you have a good schedule. It's extremely disappointing that it has turned out this way because I was excited about the prospect of becoming an Account manager.
