Pros

Kept busy. Days went by quickly. Wage was decent but not spectacular.

Cons

No real clear direction or communication. Not exactly new person friendly regarding both orientation and overall warehouse cataloguing. Major things, like vacation, sick time, pto or pay schedule were BRIEFLY touched on but never fully explained. They expected the online orientation courses to cover all that when most other places would have the course and then discuss the matters in-person. Management expected the machine to run itself and got irritated whenever they had to get involved. Never knew how we were standing overall and had to run to three different people at any time to get answers. Most the time those same people would direct toward someone else to get the job done, and it would be months into the job until someone would finally mention a given task we should've been doing the whole time that we were wholly unaware of. Employee Privacy and Privilege was a far-flung notion at best and personal issues were the immediate source of gossip for the entire warehouse.

Good job to have during college. People are easy going and easy to get along with. Overall really good experience

Pros

I like my coworkers and my GM is a good .

Cons

The business model and lean staffing is simply unsustainable. Entry level pay, part time, little training, no commissions. Fastenal is focused on the sale rather than the customer. The wing it mentatility leaves customer service lacking. It's a roll coaster of putting one fire out after the other. They sale the position during the interview process but after your in there's empty promises with no real timelines for when the advancement is coming. Upper management seems out of touch with the day to day business. If you ask for help they simply say you have a good schedule. It's extremely disappointing that it has turned out this way because I was excited about the prospect of becoming an Account manager.
