Pros

Lots of training provided. Very procedure driven and safety aware. Decent salary if you can get hired on as staff.

Cons

Completely unprofessional Management from the top down. The politics and nepotism is beyond disgusting. Experienced skilled people are being let go in favor of non working managers who need to save their jobs or young inexperienced fresh to the industry aka cheaper workers. The only exception to that is the favorites, the chosen ones are safe and don't have to worry about job security regardless of how hard or well they actually execute their work. It's so obvious, demoralizing and disgusting to those that are working their tails off praying they're not next to be called into HR and given the full of bs "we're sorry but..." and "we'll call you back" talk. Fluor was once THE great EPC to work at, but that ship has sailed. Work-life balance is a joke and people are so miserable. They talk about the good old days...only 5-10 years ago!! Stay away!!!!

Pros

Good for starting and ending a career in engineering — solid training and plenty of software available. Good benefits and WLB.

Cons

Most projects are PreFEED, so lots of generic work, and they tend to overhire for these projects. It’s hard to make it to the middle ranks here because of the overhiring and layoff on contract loss cycle. The 980 schedule is actually meant to be a 10-hr day, as they began to emphasize the importance of taking lunch. TOWP and sick days are lumped together and earned on an accrued basis, so vacation days are valuable in the beginning. You can be paid your vacation days at the end, too, when your salary is higher… the consequence is that people come in sick all the time.
