Pros

There are some great people who care about what they are doing. The pay is relatively good for the region.

Cons

I can't speak for the patient care side of the house. But behind the scenes, it is a bureaucratic nightmare. Departments cannot or will not cooperate with one another, everyone throws red tape in every direction to defend their own little piece of the territory, and management is uneven and unpredictable. On top of that, Geisinger is basically the biggest employer in the region for many fields, and they know that they're the only game in town, so they treat employees accordingly.

Pros

Worked fully remote which worked for me. Great health benefits. Worked for health plan not clinical.

Cons

Limited opportunities for growth without a college degree. Typical corporate where they cut resources and make big demands. Many long time employees which I thought was a pro at first, but realized they are stuck in old ways and don’t really want to hear a fresh new perspective or even spend time developing new people. As someone with ambition and interest in contributing, I felt stuck, limited, and bored.
