Pros

Peers, colleagues, other partners throughout organization. Benefits/salary.

Cons

Observed and experienced the following: Favoritism; gaslighting; chronically low morale; vague objectives and undefined priorities; inconsistent expectations; poor or no accountability; insidious ambiguity; no strategic focus or goal integrity; fear-based leadership (bullying, defensiveness, inability to receive solicited and unsolicited constructive feedback, ideas, or solutions); manager triangulation and intentional siloing of individuals within teams. "Management/leadership is not a democracy" is common retort used to enforce arbitrary decisions/actions without explanation or reasoning, and to suppress questions and dissension. Improving employee engagement one of Geisinger's strategic priorities however in the 5+ years I was there, did not see Foundation leadership held accountable despite the obvious downward trajectory evidenced in annual/biannual engagement score data. Foundation leadership dismissed engagement survey as bogus behind closed doors and spent more time arguing the validity of results than looking at real problems. Suspect positions eliminated to manipulate employee retention data and budget.

Pros

Worked fully remote which worked for me. Great health benefits. Worked for health plan not clinical.

Cons

Limited opportunities for growth without a college degree. Typical corporate where they cut resources and make big demands. Many long time employees which I thought was a pro at first, but realized they are stuck in old ways and don’t really want to hear a fresh new perspective or even spend time developing new people. As someone with ambition and interest in contributing, I felt stuck, limited, and bored.
