Pros

Incentives to stay with the company, mission

Cons

My experience with the Genentech Patient Foundation was that if you don't mirror management you'll never have the chance to develop. The culture created in Portland is toxic and forces employees to assimilate into a culture that celebrates shining the spotlight on the mistakes of your peers rather than talking to them directly. They're big on diversity initiatives but they don't have a diversity problem, they have a development problem. Leadership does not reflect their frontline staff in terms of diversity and its not just about race. I noticed that if you're different than them, you basically don't fit in and will never fit in. They often cherry-pick who to micromanage and allow others to behave in ways that are offensive and not professional (from my experience white peers). Don't waste your time here, the pay and benefits are not worth being lead by management that clearly needs sensitivity training and who should be more accountable and micromanaged as they do to their staff. They often cover each other's backs when they slip and blame the employee. Overall a waste of time in terms of career development. You won't learn anything that will make you marketable for other roles besides having the name of the company on your resume.

Pros

The work is meaningful and overall the company vision aligns with my goals

Cons

QA management has become inept. None of the leadership (aside from maybe one or two) truly understand the nuances of our site and jobs. They refuse to pay you more due to "budget" reasons but won't provide much information, they claim to be transparent but will make decisions behind your back and not communicate them, even if they impact you and/or your job. Leadership doesn't listen to feedback and gets defensive if you even try to give any. It honestly has become a game of politics only in QA and that's not really building any real quality culture.
