The company offers excellent employee development programs and comprehensive benefits including wellness, dental, vision, and robust retirement options. The defense sector focus creates a powerful sense of mission that makes it easy to stay motivated and engaged. GDMS is an outstanding employer for veterans and military spouses, actively working to retain employees who relocate due to PCS moves. Managers have flexibility in recognizing high performance through various reward mechanisms, allowing them to tailor recognition to what motivates each individual employee.

      Cons

      Key operational processes lack maturity in critical areas including supply chain management, configuration management, and financial reporting. The company demonstrates an over-reliance on internally developed solutions that are often difficult to use and understand, rather than investing in proven commercial tools that would be more comprehensive and effective. Facilities at smaller sites can be inadequate, creating an unpredictable work environment.

      Pros

      GD has lots of interesting projects to work on across multiple locations. If you want to make a career at GD, I don't think you would be bored because there is so much to work on. Work has been very stable over decades with no indication that that will change. Work life balance is also valued and generally very good outside of major project milestone deliveries.

      Cons

      Pay is competitive with defense industry but not private sector.

      Not many pros to list if you are a student.

      Cons

      These guys are not very professional. Their hiring practices are a joke. They come across as tired, overworked, disinterested and even biased. They definitely dont appreciated the time students put forward to interview with them.
