Pros
They are the leaders in their field, so the technology is leading edge. In addition, they are known world-wide as leaders and therefore you get a very eclectic mix of customers and partners which makes your job exceedingly interesting. Meeting with people from and addressing the needs of multiple cultures definitely expands your horizons and perspectives and encourages you to think outside of the box and not just be North American or even English-speaking centric. But by far, the best reason to work for Genesys is the people. Tthey are some of the smartest and nicest people I have ever worked with. They are fun to be around, helping make a stressful job more enjoyable and are always ready to help and offer opinions when asked. They will step up, even if it means working longer hours, to ensure success.
Cons
The fact that Genesys is a wholly-owned subsiduary of Alcatel-Lucent can be very impacting. It is such a mix of cultures and expectations, that often do seem to change more than is practical. There were also a number of significant changes in the senior management team over the last couple of years that I worked there that really seem to change both the style and focus of the company. It changed from what appeared to be a more technical approach to more of a sales approach and then back again. These style changes often made it difficult to know how to pitch an idea or present a situation.
