Pros

Georgetown is a special place with outstanding faculty and students. Staff experience on the job is being part of the community, salaries can vary tremendously dependent upon division and role as some divisions have avalanche periods of work throughout the year quite different from other divisions that have more predictable 9-5 with somewhat quieter during summer and holiday periods.

Cons

Salaries not necessarily competitive in some divisions and very limited opportunities for advancement within the division even if responsibilities have grown significantly while other divisions have supervisors mindful of this and routine advancement occurs for their individual reports. This is not to encourage advancement in job as a given as some are happy doing the job at hand without advancement as they are being compensated for the job they accepted. It is in those who grow and grow in contribution but supervisors do not recognize in fair compensation and recognition.

Pros

Job security throughout budget cuts happening in the public health industry currently. Plenty of PTO and holiday paid leave.

Cons

Constant threats by upper management to "write us up/disciplinary action" for anything. Director is really unfair/disrespectful/condescending to our supervisor and so that trickles down to data coordinators. For example currently there is a threat that we will be "written up" if we do not meet all the competing deadlines. Ive seen sooo people many come and go in this sector over the past 3 years its insane. Its alot of data to manually enter and one must be organized /driven and on top of your game but it gets borring if your not passionate about the cancer trials you are working on.
