Pros

A prestigious brand and an iconic building. Nice place, nice people. It’s very easy to progress, you just have to get in with the right people. Benefits are good, with band four managers receiving a 10% annual bonus, band three will also be included from the new year. The pension scheme is a real highlight if you manage to apply within the very short closing opportunity. Colleagues were looked after, with their full pay during lockdown, and £50 a day bonus if they were willing to risk their health working during the pandemic.

Cons

Sadly lessons from the Al-Fayed era have still not been learned. Harrods Human Resources team allow bullying and discrimination to occur,..if it suits the business. Attention paid towards any harassment is purely lip service even in 2025. Core company values only apply to colleagues, not its senior managers and if you are not perceived to be living those values and exemplary standards, you will not last long. Harrods sadly prefer to pay for the destruction of close dated produce, rather than give it to its own colleagues, a sustainability nightmare when we are talking about pallets and pallets of carbonated drinks, honey and confectionary. Wastage is high and will increase when the food preparation facility is built at its Thatcham distribution centre. Essentially taking lorry loads of pre prepared consumables on a fifty two mile journey to be sold in store. Not as green as advertised.
