Pros

I've felt like a valuable team member since day one at Health Catalyst--for the experience and enthusiasm I bring with me and by willingness to learn. I know that I'm expected to give all I can to my job, but I also feel absolutely supported. My immediate teammates and manager have always been available whenever I've had questions or needed encouragement, and I've also felt welcome reaching out to other departments and teams when needed. Beyond the work itself, I value my social interactions here. There's a uniquely high concentration of kind, bright, motivated, and curious people, who acknowledge one another as whole persons (family, interests, passions) as much as they do colleagues and coworkers.

Cons

The work is highly challenging and the culture here expects 110% from all team members. While this isn't necessarily a con, Health Catalyst is not a place for someone who isn't ready to jump into the deep end.

Thank you for your thoughts, and agree 100%! I was reflecting the other day on my time here at Health Catalyst, and considered that, I were to ever leave for some reason (no plans to :), one of the things I would truly, truly miss is my interactions with this high-powered group of individuals that I genuinely like to be around! Such a fantastic group of human beings working here at Health Catalyst together!

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
