Pros

Benefits (more thanks to the union) Smart and passionate rank and file staff Probably the most trans-inclusive place you can work for in the nonprofit space

Cons

Absolutely ridiculous workload, especially for the pay Leadership is out of touch, arrogant, entitled, and completely closed off to staff critiques or concerns - The President literally said that staff concerned the organization is not living into its values should leave the organization. Inconsistent enforcement of policies Deeply hypocritical when it comes to their values and strategic plan Stingy with pay and promotion Underperforming and bigoted staff (esp non-union staff) can hold on for YEARS, while hardworking staff get dumped on and eventually pushed to leave

Pros

Some of the most passionate, talented people in the business

Cons

Like orgs of this level, bureaucracy can sometimes get in the way of the work

Pros

Opportunities in the past to work with smart, dedicated colleagues and understand the inner workings of a large advocacy-based organization. Some opportunities to work on interesting projects.

Cons

Leaders are unsure how to direct a strategic plan for the work and boost staff morale. Staff is burnt out and running on dedication to the mission. A recent string of resignations has put strain on remaining employees.
