Pros

At Hy-Vee, you have many ways to advance your career. Once a year, they offer a "Career Day" where they show you what you can advance to within the company. Being an employee owned store, you feel that Hy-Vee is yours too.

Cons

Pay is low for part time employees. When I started working there, they started at minimum wage. How do they expect employees to want to remain working there? The management seems to ignore problems in the store. An example is when the freezer went out, they used the band aid approach and just did a temporary fix.

Pros

I really enjoyed my coworkers and the management of the store. There were a handful of people who worked there at the time who weren't necessarily my favorite, but overall the team was good.

Cons

There we no significant cons. The pay is not the highest, but these are mainly entry level jobs.

Cons

As a 24/7 retail business, scheduling can be demanding in some roles — though the variety of positions means there's flexibility to find the right fit. With a large, decentralized workforce spread across hundreds of locations, consistent employee communication is an ongoing area of focus and improvement.
