Pros

Currently am contracted through intercon to a philanthropic organization. This contract has fairly competitive pay, twice annual bonuses, and a relaxed work environment. You can easily rack up a lot of experience in various areas of security contracted to reputable organizations that will help open up your career options.

Cons

However, my manager doesn't manage me at all, nor does he protect me from the client. This has been an issue not just my 4.5 years in my current role as security manager, but my whole 9 years with Intercon. Nor does he respond to any of the interpersonal issues that are escalated to him. Why someone who isn't a people person at all is a manager is beyond me. There's no concern or seeming interest in the actual wellbeing of the employees. So big issues fester, and morale is perpetually low.

Pros

Only pro is being salaried

Cons

Where to begin. This company has no regard to following a CBA and then leaving the burden of blame on their Site Leads. There is no support from upper management. Executive Leadership is completely clueless on how to run a company and will make changes that negatively impact your operations. All the departments have 0 regard to your schedule or personal time and will contact you during vacations. Departments that are meant to support and assist you instead actively hurt your operations and when you give pushback you're told to kick rocks and deal with it.
