Pros

Some really good people in within the business lines.

Cons

1. CEO strips company bare, to breaking point, to show positive numbers to the world/shareholders and a wonderful paycheque for himself and his close 'persons' 2. Everyone is too scared to raise concerns with the CEO. He has a terrible temper and can be heard berating his subordinates (others bosses) on calls in front of everyone. You do as you are told or 'exit' the business. 3. Micromanagement is excruciatingly painful, absorbs huge amounts of time (and resources). There is no trust in the company leadership - anywhere, unless a said 'person'. 4. Do not step out of line and vocalise/stand up for what is right for the ethical employment of people. 5. If there is a crisis, there is very limited understanding or support for the businesses as senior management do not understand the dynamics and impacts on each business. 6. Someone neutral needs to take a close look at the gender/disability balances of management over recent years, particularly at senior levels (non HR, H&S, Marketing, Sustainability). So many highly respected people have left. 7. No progression unless you are a 'said' 'person' that has been with the CEO prior to Intertek. It is astounding how high and how fast you can move if you are a 'said' 'person' - irrespective of the what is left behind. 8. 'Leadership with Soul' .... 'People at the heart of your growth strategy' .... - I struggle merging these words with the actions of the person that utters them, they are an eternity apart in reality. Sadly I joined many years ago when the company stood on some of these values however over time it has annihilated any care for its people and this 'leadership book' now is a complete farse. 9. Since doing his book, how much money has the CEO spent going around the world promoting his book - shouldn't this come out of his personal annual leave and bank account? All he is doing is using his platform now for his exit/benefit post Intertek whilst staff are pushed to their limits as recruitment/salaries are stopped - one cannot even have a change in working hours without this being 'approved' by the Global CEO. I do not know a person in Intertek that comes to work to do a bad job, however, when they are pushed to the limit with no recruitment backfill, no investment and customers start seeing the cracks open and are threatening to leave/ do leave (and the blame is left with us) - when will that last straw break 'the camels back'?

Pros

Good group of people in local office.

Cons

Stuck in the past. Unwilling to consider updating methods or procedures. "We've done it this way for 30 years and it has worked." Sales relies upon project engineers to do most of their work for them. When volume of work is slow that becomes the engineers responsibility to go find new clients. Can't reliably pay the most basic of utility bills on time. I've seen the power cut off 2x and the gas this past winter.
