I worked at Juniper Networks as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

Excellent Internship program, awesome work culture for interns, friendly HR team, visibility to higher executives during intenship.

Cons

Pay is not that great compared to other big giants.

Advice to Management

Internship is only for summer. Having an internship program all round the year would infuse young talent to the company and decrease the average age emplyoees in the company( which is now ~45).

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time

    Pros

Routing and Switching groups are doing well. Engineers get chance to work on latest technologies. Company gives free personal training and 4 months maternity/paternity vacations.

    Cons

Company is not growing. Too many reorgs that demotivates everyone. First level managers are just pawns who are always arm twisted by upper management to deliver more with less resources and less time.

    Advice to Management

This used to be a top networking company. Not any more. Please treat people with respect. Just compressing the project schedule every project/release is not realistic.
Execs including CEO are making tons of money, but regular employees are not given raises they deserve. Even the projects are not being funded well but several folks in upper management spend tons of money in unproductive or unnecessary travel to India/China.

I worked at Juniper Networks full-time

    Pros

Flexible work hours, friendly people, good 401k matching and benefits

    Cons

There are redundant and excessive status updates for exec team. Work life balance can be tough due to different geographies and late night or early conference calls. Middle management can't execute or deliver on time because they are forced to meet unrealistic schedules which trickles down to the working level working around the clock and on the weekends

    Advice to Management

review the product roadmap and learn how to forecast properly. Every product seems to be a catch up to the competitor. Do market studies and try to stay ahead of the curve instead of forcing unrealistic schedules on Eng to deliver products that are already late before they even start.
