Pros

As far a public accounting firms go, KPMG is a great place to work. Compensation is in line with three other "big four" firms and includes an excellent benefits package include health, dental, fitness reimbursements, etc. There is a strong culture in place with plenty of opportunity for personal and professional development.

Cons

The nature of public company auditing means that depending on the clients you serve there is basically no work life balance from December to March (if you serve retail clients with Dec 31 YE). you can easily end up working 12-16 hrs a day six days a week during that period. Considering the hours worked, base pay is not in line with can be earned in industry, and bonuses are almost non-existent until you make manager.

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
