      Pros

      Initially an attractive place to work because you are contributing to open-source, but there are other employers which offer better pay, stability, and culture.

      Cons

      Layoffs were handled abysmally, and the CEO is actively trying to remove honest reviews from this page to protect her reputation. We were promised job security when Kitware became an ESOP in 2020, specifically that it would "his transition strengthens Kitware’s commitment to our employees through shared ownership," however, the exact opposite happened since this transition and financial instability has been revealed.

      - Fun and interesting work - Great coworkers - Excellent benefits package (generous PTO, flexible in-person/hybrid/remote) - Hourly pay - Low stress projects, strong work-life-balance - Relatively flat management hierarchy

      Cons

      - Compensation is on the lower side - Mostly government/federally funded work. Not necessarily a con, but could be depending on your preferences

      This is a great company to work for if you're looking to do a 9 to 5 with minimal stress.

      Cons

      There's not a lot of room for real career growth and the compensation is pretty bad.
