Pros

The pros of working at LensCrafters are small. You are given one free pair of eye wear per year, as well as one free eye exam. Since most stores are open from 9am-9pm (around there), there are different shifts you can work depending on how busy your schedule is.

Cons

The pay is basically nothing. I have worked in 4 different locations and can safely say that all stores have the same issues as I'm going to list below. After working for the company for 4 years and being a part of the management team, I made $10.97 per hour. Commissions are cut each year, to the point where most weeks you only make $20 or less. During insurance week in December, you can sell $18,000 per week and only take home $45 in commission. There are no health benefits available, as management makes sure you work just under the minimum amount of hours to qualify. Management is poor at best. You are controlled to the point of ridicule, micro managed and belittled. You are humiliated in front of customers and openly criticized in front of fellow employees. Scheduling is random and biased in favor of management. Drama runs rampant in most stores. Higher management has no power to change the behaviors of the GMs and RMs. The hiring process is a joke, anyone who is breathing gets hired, regardless of skill or customer service. Management is constantly fighting with each other, making work a miserable and tense experience. As an employee, you are treated as a slave to corporate and management.

Pros

when I first started it was a very employee based company. Great discounts, great benefits. Regional managers were swift to help if we had questions and offer support

Cons

Since last year the environment has changed vastly. They no longer care about the employees and only want results. They have raised prices and insurances dont cover as well as they used to and they expect the managers to just force people to buy. If you dont make your monthly goals youre put on a PIP and the Regionals are constantly threatening you to make them. The work life balance does not exist. There is a group chat with your fellow store managers hosted by the Regional and if its your day off they still expect a response. I know it comes from the top down but the micromanaging has gotten so awful. Down to the minute you must be scheduled correctly. I have been here for 3 years and have never had a positive review even though our store has exceeded its goals. Doesnt matter to them, they expect more and more. They raise goals constantly and the only answer they have for making sure we hit those goals is no one leaves, even though they can get the same product from a competitor at a much lower cost.
